Two women crashed head-on while traveling on Illinois Route 84 in rural Galena, Illinois, according to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, when 74-year-old Sandra A. Stienstra, who was headed northbound, reached for something in her car and crossed the center line, the sheriff’s statement said. Roughly 300 feet south of North High Ridge Road, Stienstra collided head-on with woman driving southbound.
The southbound driver, a 28-year-old from Galena, had a four-year-old and a nine-month-old passenger with her; all three were treated for non life-threatening injuries, according to the Jo Daviess Sheriff’s statement.
Stienstra was charged with improper lane usage.
