Days after “items related to narcotics manufacturing” were discovered in a Davenport, Iowa home that was on fire, two people were charged in connection.

The fire was reported overnight Tuesday, December 22, 2015 on South Concord Street, according to the Davenport Police Department.  There were four adults and four children inside the home at the time.  Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire, but a portion of South Concord Street was closed for about an hour and a half.

On Tuesday, 24-year-old Megan V. Ray was charged in connection, and on Thursday, December 24, 27-year-old Christopher Knepp was charged as well, police said.

Both Ray and Knepp were charged with possession with intent, tax stamp violations, conspiracy and child endangerment, according to police. In addition, Knepp was charged with first degree arson.

Police said Knepp had been inside the home making a narcotic called Butane Honey Oil.  This is when butane is pulled from THC in marijuana.

“Butane fumes saturated the residence and were ignited which caused the fire,” read the police statement.

Knepp was being held by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.

One man was injured in the fire and was taken to an area hospital for treatment before being transferred to another.
