Dove brand chocolates recalled, ingredients missing from label

A recall was issued on popular Dove brand chocolates because they did not list all of their ingredients on the label. These chocolates were sold all over the country, including in Iowa and Illinois.

The product being recalled is a purple 24 ounce bag of “Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes,” according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Item# 10139802 – UPC# 400050521
LOT CODE: 537CG4PA30, 537DG4PA30, 538AG4PA30, 538AM4PA30, 541AG4PA20, 542EM4PA20

About 6,700 cases of the products could contain Snickers, Milky Way, and Twix pieces that have peanuts, wheat, and eggs. These ingredients are not listed on the package.

“People who have allergies to peanuts, wheat and/or eggs have the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” read the FDA’s statement.

This “Allergy Alert Voluntary Recall” was issued by Mars Chocolate North America.

If you have purchased these chocolates, you can return them to the store you bought them from for a full refund.  If you have any questions about the recall you can call 1-800-551-0907.

The FDA reported that as of December 18 there had been no reports of allergic reactions from eating the chocolates.
