Burglar stole $3,000 worth of cigarettes from Fulton, Illinois gas station, police say

Police say a burglar broke into a Fulton, Illinois gas station overnight and stole $3,000 worth of cigarettes.

Police say a burglar broke into a Fulton, Illinois gas station overnight and stole more than $3,000 worth of cigarettes.

It happened at the Shell Express at 1320 17th Street around 2 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2015, according to a statement from the Fulton Police Department.  While responding to an alarm at the gas station, officers found that the glass doors in the front of the business had been smashed with a rock.

Officers found that numerous cartons of cigarettes had been taken from inside the store, and police said they believe it was done by just one person. Police said the culprit likely pulled right in front of the store to commit the crime.

“The suspect(s) is believed to be responsible for similar crimes in the region,” read the statement.
