The President of Western Illinois University says he and other top administrators will take a pay cut to help the school get by during the Illinois budget impasse.
Jack Thomas detailed what he called, extremely difficult and painful decisions ahead, in a letter posted on the University's website. The university isn't getting any state funding while the state of Illinois has no budget in place.
President Thomas says there will have to be layoffs across the board in all departments, unless they can come up with other ways to save money. The school has already announced that 50 employees will have to be laid off. The Board of Trustees ultimately will vote on the layoffs. They will consider some staff layoffs at a meting on Friday, December 18, 2015.
