Toys for Tots drive brings in hundreds of Christmas presents for QC kids

Hundreds of Quad City kids will have presents under the tree on Christmas morning thanks to your generous donations.

From 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, members of the U.S. Marine Corps collected toys outside the WQAD studios for Toys for Tots. The gifts are then sorted and distributed to needy families in the Quad Cities.

"There's a lot of families out there that fell on hardship, they can't provide a good Christmas for their kids, so it really does help for them to be able to have a good Christmas," said Staff Sgt. Carl Pedder.

Many families stopped by during the 14-hour drive, bringing gifts like action figures, board games and bikes.

"We know that there's families out there that are a little bit less fortunate, and we are blessed, so we'd like to pass a little bit of that blessing back on to other folks," said Nathan Blommer.

Even if you missed the drive, it's not too late to donate. News 8 will be collecting toys through December 10, 2015, during normal business hours.
