After the mayor demanded he leave his post in Davenport, former city administrator Craig Malin has found a new job in California.

After the mayor demanded he leave his post in Davenport, former city administrator Craig Malin has found a new job in California.

Malin will become city manager for Seaside, California, after their current city manager retires in December 2015, according to the Monterey Herald.

Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba called for Malin, and city attorney Tom Warner, to step down in June 2015, saying Malin and Warner had “overstepped their authority” in connection with a contract for the extension of Elmore Avenue, a new road that will lead to the future Rhythm City Casino at the interchange of Interstate 74 and Interstate 80.  Within days, the Davenport City Council voted 9-1 to accept a "Succession, Transition and Separation Agreement" with Malin.

The deal included a severance package that could top $310,000.

Malin's appointment in Seaside was was pending approval from their city council, which was expected to happen at their December 3 meeting.  His starting salary will reportedly be $212,688.
