Two people escaped a burning Bettendorf home along with their pets.
The fire was at a hom in the 1100 block of 30th Street and started around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015, according to a statement from Bettendorf's Public Information Officer, Lauran Haldeman. The garage became engulfed in flames and had spread to a second-story bedroom.
By 4:15 p.m. the fire was under control, Haldeman said. Firefighters were still on scene around 5:30 p.m. checking for hot spots.
There were two people in the home when the fire started, and they were able to escape with two dogs, said the statement. A cat that was still inside was rescued by firefighters.
Bettendorf and Riverdale Fire Departments responded to the fire.
Haldeman confirmed that there were no reported injuries.
