Sacco-Miller, 48, allegedly crashed the vehicle she was driving into an unoccupied, parked vehicle in the 500 block of E. Fellows Street in Dixon, Illinois around 7 a.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015. No one was hurt, according to police. Sacco-Miller was arrested and charged with DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol content over .08, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The day after the incident, Sacco-Miller issued a public apology.
"I am deeply sorry and regret my lapse in judgment yesterday. The Illinois State Police handled the accident and arrest professionally and according to the book, as I would expect nothing less," her statement said. "The case will be assigned to the appropriate prosecuting agency. I will cooperate fully with the process and accept the consequences for my actions. I expect to be treated the same as any member of the public facing the same charges."
Sacco-Miller also said her office will continue to conduct business as usual, "with the usual considerations being made in each case."
