SpaghettiOs recalled after pieces of plastic found in some cans

After pieces of red plastic were found in some cans, certain cans of SpaghettiOs have been recalled by the manufacturer.

The recall is for SpaghettiOs original flavor in 14.2-ounce cans; the recalled cans have a Feb 22, 2017 date stamped on them and a UPC code of 51000 22432. The recall involves about 355,000 cans of SpaghettiOs in the United States.

“The plastic material is from parts of the can lining which may peel off,” said the company’s Facebook post about the recall. “Please don’t eat this product.”

The plastic is food grade and is not harmful if ingested, the company said in its Facebook thread about the recall, but the plastic pieces could pose a potential choking hazard.

“People who have bought the affected product should return it to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or full refund,” said a statement on the Campbell Soup Company website.
