Wind damage was reported all over the viewing area from Wednesday evening's storms.
Reports from the National Weather Service indicated that cities surrounding the Quad Cities saw damage like downed power poles and trees and structural damage.
In Jo Daviess County, police reported "lots of" trees and power lines down in Warren, Illinois. In Menominee, police also reported that a barn had been thrown to the road and damage to multiple homes. One home in the area had its roof blown off, which prompted a rescue. There were no injuries "but a lot of structural damage in the area."
Police reported that a cattle shed in Maquoketa, Iowa, in Jackson County, was blown down.
Down in Hancock County, the fire department reported structural damage in LaHarpe, including a roof that had been blown off a shed. Also, a wall had been blown out of a dealership and a home shifted a few inches off its foundation.
LeClaire, Iowa in Scott County first saw a shed at Glendale Cemetery get destroyed in the high winds. Reports indicated that cinder blocks from the structure were thrown 20 to 30 yards. Several trees at the cemetery were also sheared off at their bases, while others were broken off roughly six feet above the ground. Also in LeClaire, a home at 8th and May get its roof blown off, then shortly after a concrete anchored fence as well as a large tree were blown down in 70 mph winds.
Reports from Walcott, Iowa indicated that power poles were leaning over off of I-80. Winds were estimated around 80 mph in the area.
Police in West Branch, Iowa reported trees and a large electric pole down on the south side of town.
Thousands were without power amid the windy storms. More than 3,000 customers were without electricity around 7:25 p.m., according to MidAmerican Energy's power outage maps.
