Jeff Milne and his family moved into their Davenport home back in 2013. Milne says he and his wife did their research before moving in.

"The three number one factors are safety, security and comfort," says Milne.

And with a new bar opening up later on this month, Public House, he says those three things are in jeopardy.

"Now all of a sudden I have people who have been drinking next to my house. That's a concern for me," says Milne.

Milne says his house is most impacted by the bar's location off of West 53rd and Northwest Boulevard in Davenport.

The back side of the bar is just 47 feet away from the Milne's property.

News 8 spoke with city officials today who said in the past few months, there have been no problems distributing liquor licenses to new properties. And the Public House bar doesn't even seem to be on the agenda for next weeks zoning board of adjustment meeting.

"Red flags went off when I heard seven days a week, no food, special events, 2 a.m. It was like, wait a second," says Milne.

But he may be out of time. There was already a public meeting earlier last spring for people to come voice their opinions about the bar, but no one came. Milne says that's because the neighborhood wasn't given a fair notice, and that they're blindsided.

There will be a neighborhood meeting tomorrow at 6 p.m. and 8th Ward Alderwoman Kerri Tompkins is expected to attend.
