Voters in Davenport, Iowa, decided to change up their city government and elect Frank Klipsch as their mayor.
Current Mayor Bill Gluba was awaiting the results at The Starting Line in Davenport, Iowa. According to the unofficial results, with all of the precincts reporting Klipsch had about 66% of the vote and incumbent Gluba had about 32%.
A crowd surrounded Mayor Bill Gluba as he gave his concession speech.
"You know, they'll give you one term, that happens a lot; sometimes they'll give you two," Gluba said. "Sometimes they give you three, seldom do they ever give you three, and only one other time have they given anyone four terms- myself and one other party who was the longest serving mayor. I think he served five terms."
Gluba announced that the first person he wanted to thank was his wife Trish of 50 years. He also gave a shout out to everyone who had helped him on the campaign trail. He had been the Mayor of Davenport since 2007.
Klipsch's career experience circles around the YMCA, where he most recently served as the president for the Youth and Family Foundation in Scott County, from 2013 to 2014. Before that, he was the Family Y's Chief Executive Officer from 1987 to 2012.
Klipsch previously said he got into the race to give voters a choice. He said that he was looking to build a new era in Davenport politics.
"Bringing people together, being very transparent, being open and listening to people," he said. "From that, build consensus, partnerships and move forward."
