There are two 2,500 jobs available right now in the Quad Cities, and many of those are recent openings. That's because employers are gearing up for the holidays by hiring extra help.

Managers at the Moline Target store had a conference call Monday to discuss which positions to hire for and how many new people to bring on board. Davenport’s Target has signs up advertising the openings it has.

The most in demand seasonal work includes customer service, stocking, and also maintenance jobs. The National Retail Federation expects about 700,000 seasonal jobs will be filled this year nationally, despite the fact that unemployment levels are low.

"There are a lot of people who are working, but some of those people are working at a part time level. So this is a great opportunity for them to add more hours to their schedule, maybe go from 20 hours to 30 hours or 40 hours. So they can maybe do two jobs now," said Mark Holloway, Iowa Workforce Development Business Representative.

Jobs typically require a high school diploma or GED and pay is around $10 an hour according to Iowa Workforce Development. You can view listings from Iowa Workforce Development here.
