A high school student was named Homecoming Queen before kicking for her school's football team.
According to a report by WGN, 17-year-old Jodie Farnetti's father, Greg, had been the coach of the central Alabama high school's football team for more than 20 years. The school's homecoming game was Greg's last as coach, so she asked the team if she could kick in the game; they agreed.
Coincidentally, Jodie was named Homecoming Queen that night, and accepted the honor in her football uniform, according to the report.
During the game, the newly-named queen went out onto the field and kicked an extra point for her team.
Jodie wasn't regularly a member of the team, but instead was involved in softball and cheerleading.
