Geneseo High School came out in full force on Friday, October 23, 2015 for our final football Pre-Game Pep Rally of the year! This was our ninth school of the season and by our count we've seen more than 900 friendly faces this season. Who says teenagers don't have "hard work and determination?"
Dozens of Maple Leaf students came out to Bob Reade Field, previewing the team's game against DeKalb High School at 7:30 p.m. News 8 Meteorologist Eric Sorensen was there all morning long.
The Maple Leaf "Green Man" showed up Friday morning too! The students played a Scrabble game, threw giant Yahtzee dice, and participated in team-building games. Area businesses showed off their community spirit too! All In Stitches, a local stitching company, donated a huge high school banner that the students signed. It will be placed in the halls of the school to comemorate the event. Eric says the business support from the community was tremendous. He had boxes of prizes to give away, including hats, cups, and coupons from businesses all around Geneseo. We'd like to give a big thank you to Village Home Stores, Geneseo Fareway, Wyffels Hybrids, Culver's, Chicago Street Decorating, Hammond-Henry Hospital, Green River Hobbies, Vibrant Credit Union, Pegasus Fine Gifts, Blackhawk Bank & Trust, and Danny Boy's Pizza & More.
The Good Morning Quad Cities team is sad to see pep rallies come to an end. We appreciate all of the support we've seen in the past nine weeks. Sharing the stories of these kids has been the highlight of two months of Fridays!
But this isn't goodbye. We're going to continue in the new year. This morning, Sorensen announced we will be doing Basketball Pep Rallies! We're raising the bar when it comes to fun, games, and giveaways. If you're interested in having your school spirit live on the air, please upload a video to our WQAD Facebook Page explaining why we should come out for the basketball season!
Thanks again for everything!
