It has been 10 years since the Quad Cities Mustache Challenge began, and it shows no signs of stopping.

The point of the challenge is to raise money for programs provided by the Child Abuse Council of the Quad Cities. The men who participate spend four weeks growing out their mustaches.

I can’t believe it’s been ten years already,” said committee member, Jim Veto. “We’ve come a long way from a small group of friends at a house party to so many people from all over the QC joining our Challenge…”

The 2015 challenge begins Thursday, October 22, 2015 with a kick-off party at Pints on Utica Ridge Road in Davenport. The kick off party goes from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.   The four-week long shaving hiatus ends with a Mustache Bash Pub crawl in downtown Moline on November 21.

The fundraiser is in memory of Mustache Challenge participant, Kyle John of Moline. John passed away in 2008 after battling Ewings Sarcoma for five years; he was 27 years old.

At the end of the “growing season” on November 21, Challengers who donate a minimum of $30 will get the commemorative t-shirt, eligibility to participate in the Best Stache competition, and may win prizes during the pub crawl.
