Starting this week, you could own a piece of the historic Lodge Hotel in Bettendorf.

A liquidation sale of the historic hotel starts Thursday and will go on for the next 30-days. Things up for grabs include guest room furnishings, antiques, bar and restaurant items, commercial kitchen items, storage, building fixtures, and more.

The event is a tag sale, which means all items will be priced by the piece and sold on a first come, first serve basis.

Starting Thursday, sale hours will be Monday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m. for a limited time.

The hotel has been closed since the end of summer for structural and mechanical improvements.

Back in March, 2014, a group of investors announced plans to buy the property and do an $18.5 million redevelopment that would transform the German-themed hotel into a modern DoubleTree by Hilton. Those plans are still up in the air.

In May of 2015, an inspection by city building and fire inspectors turned up hundreds of violations at the hotel. A follow-up by city crews showed that the most serious violations had been addressed.

Decker Ploehn, Bettendorf City Administrator, said the property closing was a good sign for future development.

"I think we all know that the property is tired and needs something to create new vitality," said Ploehn. "We're excited that potential is, maybe closer than not, by virtue of this announcement."

The sale is being held by a company based out of Dayton, Ohio called ICL.
