A Dixon, Illinois man has been charged in connection with having and distributing heroin.

A confidential informant told detectives that he could buy heroin from 26-year-old David A. Mossholder, according to a statement from the Dixon Police Department.

Detectives decided to make a controlled buy and had the confidential informant purchase heroin from Mossholder at a home in the 400 block of West Second Street, the statement said. Mossholder was arrested shortly after.  Officers then searched the home and found more heroin inside.

In addition, police said they found out Mossholder had failed to return to the Lee County Jail after a court ordered furlough.

Mossholder was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and escape, according to police.

Police said Mossholder was held in the Lee County Jail.
