Open burning in all of Clinton County, Iowa has been prohibited.
The State Fire Marshal, Jeffrey L. Quigle, found that conditions in the county are not good for burning, and could even pose “a danger to life or property.”
As of Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 5 p.m., nobody is to engage in open burning in Clinton County, unless they are specifically permitted to do so, according to a statement from Quigle.
The burn ban was set to be in effect until the conditions for burning are no longer dangerous to life or property.
Violation of this burn ban is considered a simple misdemeanor. A simple misdemeanor holds the possibility of a minimum fine of $65 and a maximum fine of $625 as well as possibly imprisonment for up to 30 days, according to the Clinton County Code of Ordinances.
