Field fires broke out around the Quad Cities area on a day that was considered high risk for fire danger.

Two fires were reported in Scott County on Monday afternoon, October 12, 2015, one near Mt. Joy, south of Eldridge, and the other near Scott County Park, east of Long Grove. The fire near Scott County Park was reportedly under control around 3:45  p.m.

A News 8 viewer shared video of a seemingly massive field fire about 14 miles north of Monmouth, Illinois around 2:40 p.m. Other fires were reported near Roseville and Annawan (See photo gallery below).

News 8 Meteorologist Eric Sorensen said Monday would bring windy conditions and low relative humidity.  Those factors, tied in with dry fields from a lack of widespread rain for weeks have contributed to the high fire danger.

The National Weather Service said the fire danger was mainly for "agricultural fields with dry unharvested crops." Fire in these areas will be able to grow rapidly.
