The crash happened at the intersection of Illinois Route 84 and Colona Road just after 7 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, according to Operations Captain Ron Erickson with the Rock Island County Sheriff's Department.

In a statement, Erickson said a Mercury van that was heading westbound on Colona Road collided with an eastbound Honda van that was making a left turn onto IL Rt. 84 .  The third vehicle in the crash, a Chevy Malibu, had been stopped at the intersection waiting for the traffic signal to change when it was hit by the two vans.

Initial reports indicated that the three drivers were treated and released, according to the Erickson's statement.  It was later reported that the driver of the Honda van suffered a broken leg.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, Erickson said the crash was still under investigation and citations were pending.
