Salvation Army needs volunteer and paid seasonal bell ringers

The Salvation Army is preparing for the Christmas season and is looking for bell ringers.

The Red Kettle Campaign is set to begin Friday, November 6, 2015, according to a statement from the Salvation Army.  Ringing sites will be set up in Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, Silvis, and Milan.

The Salvation Army started accepting applications for paid hires Monday, October 5.  Paid workers can devote as few as eight hours or as many as 40 hours per week.

Rock Island County applications can be submitted at 2200 5th Avenue in Moline, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.   Scott County Applications can be submitted at 3400 West Central Park Avenue in Davenport on Mondays from noon - 2:30 p.m., on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., or on Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

A spokesperson from the organization said during those times people will be there who can answer any questions for potential bell ringers.

A Social Security card and current photo ID are required to be hired.

Bell ringers will be needed every day through December 24, except Sundays.

82% if the money collected is used to sustain the Salvation Army's programs throughout the year, according to the statement. This includes providing shelter, clothing, meals, and emergency services to those in need within the community.
