People in the Quad Cities are becoming super heroes for the day to help those with Down Syndrome.

GiGi's Playhouse held its 3rd Annual Super Hero Run and 11th Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Park in Bettendorf.

Hundreds of runners and walkers dressed up as their favorite superhero to help raise awareness and money for the cause.

"Our superheroes are our kids who are achieving great things everyday," said Site Manager, Michelle Hughes. "They're our donors, our families, and our supporters so everybody's a superhero this morning."

Money raised goes to Gigi's Playhouse. The facility provides free services and therapy to kids and adults with Down Syndrome. It also offers tutoring programs and career counseling.
