Two vehicles collided when a driver crossed the center line on U.S. 34 in Henderson County, according to police.

It was about 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 when 31-year-old Samael Burton from Ohio crossed the center line of the roadway, according to Illinois State Police.  Burton was headed westbound in a 2002 Chevrolet Caviler near 900 East when the crash happened. The other driver, a 62-year-old man from Kirkwood, Illinois, was traveling in the opposite direction in a 1996 Ford Explorer.

Police say the man driving the Explorer tried to avoid the crash, but the vehicle was struck on the driver’s side front corner.  The Explorer then rolled. Both the driver and a 60-year-old woman in the car were taken to the hospital.  Another passenger in the car, a 47-year-old woman was not injured.

Burton’s vehicle ran off the road and came to rest on its wheels, according to police. He was not injured.

Illinois State Police charged Burton with improper lane usage.
