Two drivers were injured when a vehicle crossed the center line of an Illinois City, Illinois roadway causing a dump truck to overturn.

It was about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 when 48-year-old Kenneth Stulz crossed the center line of  175th Street West hitting a dump truck, according to a statement from Chief Deputy Captain Steve Ven Huizen.  The dump truck, driven by a 67-year-old man from Milan, Illinois, was hauling dirt and overturned and spilled its contents onto the roadway.

Ven Huizen said the roadway became blocked to traffic.

A third driver, a 42-year-old man from Taylor Ridge, came upon the scene and damaged his vehicle while trying to avoid the crash site, according to Ven Huizen’s statement. He was not injured.

According to the statement, Stulz was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. The dump truck driver was airlifted for medical treatment.

Ven Huizen said Stulz was cited for improper lane usage. More charges were possible, pending the reconstruction and analysis of the crash scene.
