The 18th Annual Quad Cities Marathon takes off on Sunday, September 27th, 2015... but kids took over the race route on Saturday, September 26th, 2015.

The Happy Joe's Kids Micro-Marathon is a fun, scenic race on River Drive with a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and 1 mile option. The event also includes bounce houses, clowns, and - of course - free Happy Joe's pizza.

Organizers say it's a great way for the youngest generation to get involved in one of the area's biggest events.

Meanwhile, thousands of runners spent time indoors on Saturday at the Active Endeavors Expo in the iWireless Center.

Along with dozens of vendors, participants picked up their packets and bib numbers. The Quad Cities Marathon includes a full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, and 5K.

"It's a great event," said Committee Member, Kathy Sattizahn. "It always brings in a lot of people out of town into our community."

WQAD is a proud sponsor of the Quad Cities Marathon. For more information on the event, including road closures, click here.
