Water will be shut off for hundreds of customers in the Village of Alexis, Illinois, and a boil order will follow the shut-off, starting Friday, September 25, 2015.
Two fire hydrants are being replaced in Alexis, according to Village Clerk Jenny McKeown. That activity means water service will be temporarily interrupted for 350 to 400 households, plus businesses, Friday morning. The exact time for the shutdown was not certain.
After water service is restored, those water customers will be under a boil water advisory until further notice. The advisory means water used for cooking, drinking, and brushing teeth should be brought to a full, rolling boil and then cooled before use.
Water samples would be tested at least twice over the weekend. They hoped to lift the boil order by Monday morning, September 28, McKeown said.
