Gearing up for an Honor Flight, a group of veterans were invited to a special pre-flight dinner.
The dinner was held Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Davenport, Iowa. Veterans, guests and guardians were invited to attend the event, which gave Honor Flight-ers a chance to get to know each other before the big day.
On Thursday, September 24, the group planned to fly to Washington, D.C. to see military monuments dedicated to WWII and Korean War veterans.
"It's just tremendous," said Air Force veteran Keith Carter. "It's something a lot of veterans of previous wars never had a chance to do."
The public was invited to welcome the vets back from their trip Thursday evening. They were expected home at 9:45 p.m.
