Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is withdrawing from the field of Republican candidates to be the next President of the United States.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is withdrawing from the field of Republican candidates to be the next President of the United States.

“The short answer is money,” said a supporter of Mr. Walker’s who was briefed on the decision. “He’s made a decision not to limp into Iowa," reported the New York Times.

Walker called a news conference scheduled for 5 p.m. Central time at the Edgewater Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, at which he was expected to formally announce the end of his 2016 presidential campaign.

"Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive, conservative message can rise to the top of the field. With this in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately," Walker said at the news conference.

Walker's official campaign website and social media accounts had not yet included any confirmation of his possible departure from the race.
