Widespread vandalism was reported on Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf, Iowa as well as in a neighborhood near Devils Glen Park.

Widespread vandalism was reported on Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf, Iowa as well as in a neighborhood near Devils Glen Park.

Mailboxes, vehicles, and yards were included in the vandalism spree overnight Sunday, September 20, 2015, according to Sgt. Mike Piazza with the Bettendorf Police Department.  The damage was done in parts of the Deerbrook Addition neighborhood and on Devils Glen Road.

Sgt. Piazza said that mailboxes were damaged on Devils Glen Road between State Street and Middle Road. Vandalism found by neighbors included a brick thrown through a car windshield, a broken side mirror, a planter knocked over, yard signs removed, dents on a truck bed, flattened tires and more.

The first of the vandalism reports overnight Sunday came in at 1:06 a.m.  A second report came nearly 15 minutes after, which was followed several more.  Sgt. Piazza said people were telling police that the vandalism was being caused by a group of five-to-six or six-to-seven white males in their late-teens or early-twenties. Another report referred to the suspected vandals as juveniles. Both reports agreed that they were wearing hoodies, and one said some were wearing hats.

One of the reports said the group was throwing rocks at cars passing by, according to Sgt. Piazza.

If you saw anything or have any information on who may have caused the damage, you are asked to contact the Bettendorf Police Department at 563-344-4015 Ext. 9
