Davenport teen arrested in connection with recent shootings

The 19-year-old Davenport man, wanted in connection with recent shootings in the city, has been arrested.

The 19-year-old Davenport man, wanted in connection with recent shootings in the city, has been arrested.

Police were searching for Joshua Brewer after an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were injured when they were shot in the 200 block of S. Hancock Avenue at about 7 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015.   Investigators said the victims and the shooter knew each other, and that the shooting was related to other recent gun violence incidents that have happened in the past two weeks in Davenport, Iowa.

Brewer was accused of going armed with intent, two counts of willful injury causing serious injuries, and intimidation with a weapon causing serious injury.

Brewer was apprehended at about 8:45 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015, at a home in the 1200 block of Marquette Street in Davenport.

"After his arrest, Brewer was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon," said a statement from Davenport Police.

Alexandra Kane, 21, also of Davenport, was charged as an accessory after the fact, simple possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brewer and Kane were the seventh and eighth people arrested in the past week in connection with a recent rash of shots-fired calls in Davenport.  Three people were arrested in connection with shots fired at the Kwik Shop in the 300 block of West Locust Street, and three others were arrested September 10 in connection with a shots fired incident in the 2800 block of Brady Street.

"As demonstrated by these arrests, the Davenport Police Department is aggressively and successfully taking action to address the recent uptick in shots fired incidents," the police department statement said.  Police continued to remind residents that all of the recent incidents were 'target specific' and not random acts.

So far this year there have been 121 shots fired calls compared to last year's 118 shots fired calls.
