Some delicious fish and a new pair of shoes; it doesn't get much better than that.
The public was invited to the "Community Fish Fry and Children's Shoe Give-Away" in Rock Island, Illinois Sunday, September 6, 2015. At the event, held at the Martin Luther King Community Center, organizers planned to give away 300 pairs of new children's shoes to school-aged kids in need.
"In order to ensure the success of this very important event, we are seeking contributions to help defray the costs so that all funds raised can go directly toward the community," said event sponsor Erwin King,. "Generous donors are the key to our success..."
The event was scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. and was put on by Erwin King Productions and the Men and Women Making a Difference organization.
Donations were also being accepted at the event.
