Autopsy results confirm ‘multiple blunt force injuries’ killed men in Kewanee plane crash

Two people were killed and one was injured when a plane crashed just west of Kewanee, Illinois.

The crash happened before 9:30 a.m., Sunday, August 30, 2015. On board were three passengers were from Houston, Texas: 67-year-old Steven Murray, 38-year-old Mark Murray, and 40-year-old Samantha Murray.  Steven and Mark were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Henry County Coroner, David A. Johnson. Samantha was ultimately airlifted to a hospital for treatment of an arm injury.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2015 autopsies were performed on Steven and Mark in Peoria, Illinois.  The results showed that both men died of “multiple blunt force injuries due to an airplane crash,” said Johnson.

Toxicology results were also collected, but results will not be available for two or three weeks.

Funeral arrangements for the men were set to be in Houston, Texas and were pending.
