A man mowing near an embankment in rural Lost Nation, Iowa died after the tractor he was riding rolled down the embankment.
The rider, later identified as 93-year-old Arthur Raymond Brinkman of rural Lost Nation, was operating a late 1940s model Allis Chalmers farm tractor, the police report said. Brinkman appeared to have been backing up when the tractor’s rear wheel went off the edge, sending the tractor down an embankment and into a ditch.
The tractor overturned and Brinkman was pinned under the left-rear fender and tire, the police report said.
Sgt. Paul Hammond with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said it happened near 167th Street and 125th Avenue Thursday, August 27, 2015. Deputies were called to the area just before 4:45 p.m., after a family member went to the field to check on Brinkman and found him with the overturned tractor, about two hours after Brinkman left his house on the tractor.
