Quad Cities area bands joined forces to help families in need.

The band Still Standing, along with several rock, pop, punk, hardcore, and metal bands played a benefit concert at River Music Experience Saturday, August 22, 2015. They were playing to raise money for two causes.

Half of the proceeds went to a family whose twin girls were born prematurely at 25 weeks. The girls suffer from heart and lung issues and the money will help the family, who is friends with the members of Still Standing, with medical expenses such as NICU stays.  Click here to see the GoFundMe Page.

The other cause benefiting from the event is Genesis Hospital’s “Family Connects Program. ” The program aims to better provide prenatal and postpartum assistance to mothers diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

"My number one hobby is playing music so if I can bring together playing music and then helping other people out, it's a good day for me," said event coordinator Justin Young. "It's been stressful and it's been a lot of work, but it'll be worth it in the end."

A silent auction at the concert also helped generate some funds for these two causes.

Other bands that played Saturday included Heavyweight, BareBones, Calm is Key, Condor and Jaybird, 9th Street Memory, The Easy Mark, Doppleganger, Peer Pressure, Those Dirty Thieves, and Dear Divine.
