An escapee from a Davenport correctional facility was captured after an off-duty officer suspected him of being involved in drug activity.

Davenport escapee tased, captured in Bettendorf

An  escapee from a Davenport correctional facility was captured after an off-duty officer suspected him of being involved in drug activity.

The off-duty officer told Bettendorf Police that there was drug activity happening at Crow Creek Park around 11:25 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, according to a statement from the City of Bettendorf.

The off-duty officer followed the suspects to the 2300 block of Pinehurst Drive and when officers arrived, they approached the vehicle but the passenger, 23-year-old Terrance L. Mason, fled, according to the statement.

Officers chased Mason on foot to the 2400 block of Maplecrest Road and tazed him, the statement said. He was then arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail.

Mason, an escapee from the Residential Correctional Facility in Davenport, was charged with parole violation, interference with official acts, possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver, 28-year-old Brionna Robbins, was taken to the Scott County Jail and charged with driving while barred.
