Up to two inches of rain fell in about an hour’s time in a corridor from Clinton, Iowa up to the Rockford, Illinois area Tuesday night. StormTrack 8 shows many locations saw heavy rain, especially north of the Quad Cities. A few isolated spots got up to five inches of rain.

The city is not immune to historic flash flooding. The Labor Day floods of 2006 inundated dozens of homes and businesses. The same areas were affected in 2010 by another flash flood.

While the water has gone down, the river levels could rise in the coming days. As the water flows down the Rock River, some river flooding is possible into the Sauk Valley and down to Moline in the next 1-2 weeks.

No one was injured in the flooding.
