Road closures are popping up in Rock Island as crews work to install a relief sewer and water main.
Starting Monday, August 17, 2015, the intersection of 6th Avenue and 12th Street will be closed. Starting on Tuesday, 15th Street will be closed between 5th and 7th Avenues.
“Construction of the new large diameter relief sewer and water main will continue at these locations which necessitate these roadway closures,” said Rock Island’s public works director, Randall Tweet.
Traffic will be detoured along a route on 5th Avenue, 16th Street, 17th Street and 7th Avenue. See the map below.
Tweet said 11th Street between 5th and 7th Streets was expected to be open to traffic again Monday, August 17.
Work is expected to be completed by September 30.
