The Burlington Fire Department’s ambulance service will be getting an upgrade thanks to a donation by an agricultural processing company.

A donation of $3,400 was given to the department by the Archer Daniels Midland Company through a program called ADM Cares, according to a statement from the City of Burlington.   With that money, the department planned to buy new electronic devices that will improve patient care, documentation and reporting in the ambulance service.

ADM Cares is a social investment program that gives money to organizations and drive progress in a community.  When distributing funds, the program concentrates on  supporting agricultural development, improving quality of life and supporting volunteer activities.

“Funding is always a concern for the department and the City of Burlington, as we continue to stay cognizant of our fiscal responsibilities to the community,” said Deputy Chief Don Ryan. “Being able to work with organizations such as ADM, who understand the importance of community and who continually strive for improvement within the community is an honor and a privilege.”
