An 80-year-old man has died of injuries he suffered when he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash in Davenport, Iowa.
Police said Ralph Butler swerved to avoid being hit by a car that had run a stop sign at the intersection of Rockingham Road and Sturdevant Street just after 2 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015. The three-wheeled motorcycle hit the curb, and Butler was thrown from the trike.
Butler was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and later airlifted to Iowa City for treatment of serious injuries.
Butler passed away just after 4 p.m. Saturday, August 8, at a hospital in Iowa City, according to Davenport Police Department Captain Jeffery Bladel.
Police cited the car driver for failing to stop for a stop sign and for expired registration, Bladel previously said. The crash remained under investigation.

A visitation Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.
Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
