The largest men’s fastpitch softball tournament in the world came to the Quad Cities for the second year.

For three weekends the tournament, held by the North American Fastpitch Association, was set to bring thousands of fastpitch softball players into the Quad Cities.

The first tournament weekend was set to take place from Thursday through Sunday, August 6-9, 2015. Teams with the World Series A Major Division compete in a bracket-style tournament at the Green Valley Sports Complex in Moline.

During a second weekend of the tournament, from August 13-16, teams in A and AA Divisions planned to also compete at the Campbell Sports Complex in Rock Island. The third weekend, with teams competing from Master Series ages 35 and up, was planned for September 11 - 13.

More than 150 teams were expected to come from all over the U.S. and Canada to compete.  That's more than 2,600 players and 40 commissioners and umpires in the Quad Cities for the tournament.

The NAFA tournaments were expected to bring $2.7 million into the region over the course of the three tournament weekends.

"The Quad Cities holds a long and distinguished reputation for hosting quality men's national fastpitch softball tournaments," said NAFA Executive Director Benjie Hedgecock. "The geographic location of the Quad Cities puts it in the heart of men's fastpitch country."
