A plan that would give significant spending ability to the State of Illinois, amid their budget stalemate, has been approved by the Senate and now moves to the House.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, the Illinois Senate approved a plan that would give Illinois the power to spend nearly $5 billion on various programs. The proposal passed unanimously with a 57-0 vote.

According to an aide, Governor Bruce Rauner supports the proposal, reported Chicago Tribune.

The proposal, Senate Bill 2402, breaks down $4.8 billion and would distribute funds to pay for programs.  An 86-page description of the bill lists how much money would go to different programs including emergency management, disaster assistance, oil and gas resource management, water resources, environmental protection, workforce development, child protection, disability services, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and much more.
