Davenport may see addition from condo development

Quad City developers are unveiling plans that could change the skyline of downtown Davenport.

Quad City developers are unveiling plans that could change the skyline of downtown Davenport.

A new 11-story building would bring penthouses and luxury condominiums to River Drive. They would sit just across from The Freight House in what is now a mostly empty parking lot.

"It complements the sky bridge, it does compliment the Figge. And I think it will sit nicely in the skyline. It definitely is a landmark property," said JJ Condon, Davenport Development Group Partner.

400 River is the name for the $21 million development. It would stand 160 feet tall and have 12 penthouse units and 25 residences.

"It allows owner occupied in downtown Davenport. Right now there are only a handful of units that you can actually purchase," said Pete Stopulos, Davenport Development Group Partner.

There’s a starting price of $465,000 for the residences. $665,000 is the asking price for the high-end penthouses.

"It really runs the board from empty nesters to young professionals and even some young families," said Condon.

Developers hope to break ground in the spring of 2016 and open by the fall of 2017.

"All the infrastructure is there, there's great amenities, lots of parks. And now it's time for owners to own their own piece of the riverfront," said Stopulos.
