As the Quad Cities prepares to bring its first medical marijuana dispensary, local veterans got a chance to sign up for the State of Illinois' medical marijuana pilot program.
Medical marijuana consultants were at a meeting point in Mitchell Park in Moline Saturday, August 1, 2015. The goal was to get veterans signed up for medical cannabis and answer their questions.
Organizers said there are times when veterans can't get to their office because of transportation problems, so they brought their office closer to them.
"October is going to come, dispensaries are going to open and there's going to be a floodgate of patients seeking out a way to be certified for medical cannabis, we're trying to alleviate that now," said Crystal Knight with Medical Cannabis Consulting.
Veterans who couldn't make it Saturday have another chance to attend a meeting planned for Monday, August 3 at 5 p.m. at Town and Country Restaurant in Aledo, Illinois.
