Senator Rand Paul was in Davenport enjoying a little baseball and talking taxes.

Paul, a member of the GOP congressional baseball team, joined the Quad Cities River Bandits during their practice at Modern Woodman Park, Saturday, August 1, 2015.

While he was at Modern Woodmen Park he joked about vying for a spot on the Bandits' team, and said if he didn't get a spot, he'd discuss his tax plan instead.

Paul voiced his concern about "chasing jobs overseas" citing Burger King's reincorporation in Canada. He talked about corporate income taxes in the United States being at 35%, while they're 15% in Canada.

"I think if we had better taxes and less regulation, some of those jobs would stay here at home," said Paul.

He said if he were president, he would replace the tax codes with one 14.5% rate for individuals as well as businesses.

"Everybody says they want more American jobs. This is a concrete way you can get more American jobs and that would be, get rid of the tax code, fill out your tax return on one page. Fourteen-and-a-half [percent] for everybody," Paul explained.

Aside from the taxes, Paul said he came to the Quad Cities to meet the voters and said the other excuse was that it was a beautiful day and he got to play a little baseball.
