Motorcyclists gathered for a memorial ride in honor of Congressman Lane Evans.

Evans passed away in November 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He is remembered for all of his years of service as the Illinois 17th District Representative.

The ride took place Saturday, August 1, 2015 and started at 15th Avenue and 37th Street in Rock Island.  The riders planned to stop by Hope Creek Care Center where Evans lived during his last few years. Finishing off the day, the riders went to Adolph's, remembered as Evans' favorite enchilada joint.

Childhood friends of Evans say the ride was a way to pay their respects.

"[Evans] helped keep a lot of jobs here in the Quad Cities," said Don Lind, Evans' friend. "And when the veterans needed help with benefits, no matter what it was, Lane was there to help out our veterans. Out seniors, he was always there to help them out."

There were about 32 people along for the ride.
