The Iowa National Guard announced that one of their servicemen drowned while swimming at Marbo Cave in Guam.

Senior Airman Drew Bellairs, 20, drowned on Saturday, July 25, 2015, the Iowa National Guard said.  Bellairs, from Osage, Iowa, was working on temporary duty while assigned to the 506th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.

Bellairs was a member of the Maintenance Group, 185th Air Refueling Wing based in Sioux City, Iowa.  He enlisted in July 2012 as an Aerospace Maintenance Journeyman after he graduated from Air Force Basic Training at Lackland, Air Force Base in Texas.

The Iowa National Guard said his awards included the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal.

Bellairs was studying Criminal Justice at Iowa State University and was active in the ISU Flying Club and Skiing Club.

The serviceman is survived by his father and mother- David and Beth Bellairs, his sisters Jenny and Natalie Bellairs, and his brother Sam Bellairs.
