Brady Street was packed with runners and walkers for the annual Bix 7 and Quick Bix races in Davenport, Iowa.

There were more than 17,200 people who signed up to run the Bix Saturday, July 25, 2015.  And though the air was a little muggy, a sporadic breeze and cloud coverage helped keep those runners cool. Not to mention the crowds along the race route with hoses and bags of ice.

First-time Bix runner Anastasia Beetler from Galesburg, Illinois said it was fun seeing so many people from so many places.

"[It's] just so amazing to have people, so [many] people around you just cheering you on and you don't even know who they are," Beetler said.

Overall Beetler said she had a great experience, adding "the course was fun but the hills sucked."

"That was the only thing I heard coming into the race was that the first hill was really bad, but they didn't tell you that after the first quarter mile the rest of the race is just all like a roller coaster up and down," said Kai Hovden from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. "So, it was brutal."

Hovden said tons of people associated with running clubs from Madison, Wisconsin made the trek to join in the Bix.

At the race volunteers were set up along the race route offering water, direction, and cheers to the runners and walkers.

Genesis Medical Tent treated 55 people during the event, according to Senior Communications Specialist Craig Cooper. Two of the patients were taken to hospitals from the medical tent.

"It was busier today than last year, but we've had much busier years," said Ann Garton, R.N. Garton is a volunteer nurse manager at the Genesis Medical Tent. "We're very pleased with the response of our volunteers, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and non-clinical staff. Some of these people have volunteered 20 years or more."

Cooper said in 2014 Genesis Medical Tent treated 33 patients.

Results from the race were expected to be available here.

Leonard Korir won the race with a time of 33:05. Cynthia Limo was the first female finisher with a time of 36:56.
