Street Fest kicks off busy Bix weekend

The party was already underway Friday night ahead of a busy Bix weekend in the Quad Cities.

The party was already underway Friday night ahead of a busy Bix weekend in the Quad Cities.

Street Fest kicked off the festivities at 10 a.m. with food, live music, arts and craft vendors, and kids activities. The free festival takes place on 2nd Street from Ripley to Brady.

Vendors are expecting one of the biggest years ever with around 60,000 visitors in town for the Bix and RAGBRAI.

"The people are fun here. You know, it's a family thing, people come in from everywhere, and then you've got the bike races coming in, so there's a lot going on," said Norma Bowers, who runs the Fried What?! stand.

Street Fest runs from 9 a.m. until midnight on Saturday.
